Given that this one has a black background and the Oppenheimer had a white background....interesting to see them side-by-side. (cell phone pic):

It's like you never stopped Kenny! Textures are impeccable!

I love the way you shadowed the hand heavily so that it's blending with the dark background. It creates a rich feeling of depth. Same goes for the top of the head. It helps her feel like she fits into her environment rather than looking like a cut-out.

Thank you Lauren. High praise indeed. I need to do some shading...blending on the lower arm .... As well as that left side ear.

Enjoy!

I'm in that funny place with this one now..... I know it needs to be finished, particularly that lower right shirt area, the shading on the arm on the left and working on/hiding that left side ear.... and it seems I hit this point in every drawing at least once....it's like I don't want to touch it for fear of screwing it up....is that weird or what?

What can anyone say...you cant choose one over the other quality wise, just boils down to personal taste. I do have one question...
When are you going to do another one??? :P

Funny you should ask.... :P I need to finish and spray these two (never really finished til I spray them  ) and then we'll see. I actually already looked through my possibly TBD (to be drawn) references and didn't see anything that really tripped my trigger. I enjoyed the Oppenheimer....maybe I'll do another scientist....or a series of scientists.....but then again there's this Sea Otter and baby pic on my August NWF Calendar that is very tempting...not sure how it would look in B&W though....

So, Kenny, are you sticking with the 9xxb for the background of the Street Sweeper? How many layers did you use?

Yes 9xxb for background and a bit of shading ... into hair hand... layers? not sure...just covering the paper...in fact I just went back and re-did a bit of it as I worked today.....about 5 more hours getting close to finish... I think...

Here she is. I think she's finished but undoubtedly I'll find some touchups to do before I spray/fix her. :D
Coming in at 77+ hours over five years  I'm gonna miss her when she's gone. Will let her sit on my desk for a few days before the spraying. If you see anything you can't stand or can't live with please speak now! I did try to disguise the ear, and tried smoothing the background a bit.

You nailed it Kenny! The ear and upper arm fade into the background seamlessly. Congrats on sticking with it and on such a wonderful finish!
