Jephthah's Grief WIP

Postby Wren Eliza » Wed Mar 15, 2017 3:55 am

Hey Everyone. :)
...this is the first drawing in over 2 years. It's a special one to me... a gift for my oldest brother. And i've found your help (critiques, comments) nothing short of completely necessary for the success of past projects.

So here we go again.
I am trying to capture the intensity where both the viewer and Jephthah realize the cost of his vow. (Judges 11 and 12)

my usual struggles are with form and likeness, and I appreciate any help in that direction. The photographer & artist, Kevin Rolly, has done a stunning job with the oilgraph. I wish to recreate it.

Do tell me- sometimes when I look at the drawing it seems the man's eyes could be laughing, & then I'm not sure...

maybe I've just looked at it for too long?

comments and critiques are welcome as always! :)
