Jack Sparrow WIP

Postby Zeroiqz » Tue Nov 07, 2017 10:53 am

I started new drawing on this awesome CONQUEROR DIAMOND WHITE paper. This far I have been using only some graphite pencil drawing paper whitch isn't as good as this at all. I'am drawing in A4 size and on this paper I'am able to do very small details. Thats why I'am now training some skin textures and eye details on this drawing. This is after 4 hours of work and the eyes are almost finished. Any tips or good tutorials for skin textures?

Nice Start!
Will be watching!

I'm somewhat disappointed in the Conqueror paper but will be trying it again in the future most likely. For now I'm sticking with my stash of Mellotex.

Thank you! Now eyes and nose are finished and I started working with the hair. So far this has taken about 6-7 hours. ;)

I have never used this much time in any of my other drawings. Now I have worked this drawing about 11 hours. This time I have been patient and drawn this very slowly.

Excellent! And I suspect it looks even better in real life. Punchier! I'm trying to imagine it with the photo-induced contrast altered :)

Experiment on blank paper, trying just anything that comes to mind. It is often through play and experimentation that we land on techniques applicable to challenges unseen or unexplored.

Really, it comes down to how much detail or realism you are looking for.

If you want techniques that simulate a look, you'll find them through thoughtful reflection and experimentation. You break down areas into parts, identify and categorize the shapes of shadows you see most often. Teach yourself motions and patterns that replicate shapes you see most often, then apply them to your drawing.

But if you want to get all granular and ultra-realistic...

Inhuman patience or obsession would help.

Grids. Grids break things into nice, manageable parts you can work to insane realism. You can combine grids with other techniques when producing your contour drawing. Myself, I want to start using grids to do hair with greater fidelity.

Use cirulisim tiny tiny little circle hold the pencil lightly and make the texture of the paper create the skin texture. Try to find old post by Armin Morrison I think how you spell his last name or try google. His art. Mind blowing drawings and all his texture were created same way. Look at the knitted sweaters
