Bamboo Lemur pastel pencils

The animal and wildlife forum concentrates on drawings of all animals, from domestic pets to wildlife - anything dressed in fur, feathers or scales. The emphasis is on drawing but paintings are also acceptable.

Bamboo Lemur pastel pencils

Postby onlineart » Fri Dec 02, 2016 10:36 am

(sorry for posting this again Mike - I couldnt get the image to show in my old post and could not delete it :( )

This was my 2nd go at pastel pencils, its from a photo of a Bamboo Lemur I took.

its pastel pencils on pastelmat paper.

I was shocked by how similar pastels were to layer to oil paints.

hope you like it.
approx 7in wide.

I completely agree with Krissy. I just listened to your youtube video comparing pastel pencils and it was very helpful!

Hi Jason.
I watched your videos and they are really interesting.
I'd like to learn how to use colored pencils.
Is there any "bible" book (the equivalent of Mike's book) that I could read to approach colored pencils?

Thanks a lot.

Ciao
Daniele

I do agree with other artists, your work and colours are amazing ;)
I'm a big fan of Bev's coloured animals drawings too, and this is why I'm still thinking of to try to learn something how to use the coloured pencils...
I'm just going to check your tutorial out to learn something more and get some clues how to start?
Thank you.

Amazing, you have a real talent with pastel pencils.
Did you teach yourself or how did you learn to draw this great?

I just learnt through books, videos, trial and error.

Thanks Artur, I always love your support :)
Ciao There are a lot of coloured pencil books on the market. A search in Amazon will bring results. Some are better than others but most will give you a good place to start. Remember that there is a big difference between Coloured pencils and pastel pencils (which is what Jason is using for his beautiful Lemurs). They work very differently.
YouTube is also a good place top get tips from.

Sorry, Jason don't want to hijack your thread.
