Corgi Drawing

The animal and wildlife forum concentrates on drawings of all animals, from domestic pets to wildlife - anything dressed in fur, feathers or scales. The emphasis is on drawing but paintings are also acceptable.

Corgi Drawing

Postby Kenneth Reaume » Thu Jul 06, 2017 1:46 am

Hello, it's been awhile since I've posted. I've done a few new pieces you can view on my website - but I was asked to draw this Corgi. He's adorable and I was honoured.

I agree, he is adorable!! This has a lovely old-world painterly feel to it. The attention to detail that you concentrated on his face (eyes, nose, ears and open mouth) pulls the viewer's eyes right to that playful friendly face. Love it!

Kenneth, very nicely done, like the way the hair is finished...makes you want to pick him up and give him a hug. You have captured a happy I want to play dog.

Thanks so much! It was my first dog portrait and actually had a lot of fun drawing this. Making notes on what to do differently was something I did this time around.

Mikes book empathizes the importance of picking out the nuances of the animal and exaggerating them which I believe is the magical aspect of a decent portrait.

Totally appreciate your comments Laurene, Bob and Kennyc!
