Dalmatian in pastels

The animal and wildlife forum concentrates on drawings of all animals, from domestic pets to wildlife - anything dressed in fur, feathers or scales. The emphasis is on drawing but paintings are also acceptable.

Dalmatian in pastels

Postby KrissyNZ » Wed Sep 13, 2017 6:03 am

I've been keen to try new mediums and break out of the monotony of graphite for a wee bit, so I thought I'd have a go at pastels. I followed one of Jason Morgan's tutorials for an owl first off to get a 'guided feel' for the medium and then plunged straight into this drawing of my deceased dalmatian. I thought the black and white would be a gentle way to get started with colour hah :D

Quite pleased with how he turned out for a first serious go at not only a new medium but thinking in colour (without being guided. I don't really count the owl since I followed a step by step :D)
